Submissions for Issue 7: The Magic of the Natural World
For Issue 7 of Strawberry Moon Magazine you are invited to consider the Magic of the Natural World and how it impacts you and your artwork (specifically your art journaling, but we have a pretty wide definition of art journaling).
I am thrilled that I have a guest editor for this issue: Anne Butera! (See below for her introduction!)
We would like to see your ideas that consider any interaction or connection with the natural world. How do you engage with nature? How does it inspire you? Do you use bits of nature directly in your artwork as tools or collage fodder? Or do you create your own supplies such as inks or paint from foraged sources? Creating cyanotypes, gel printing with foraged items, burying your paper in the dirt…there are so many ways in which artists use elements of nature in their journals!
Nature doesn’t have to mean rural or the backcountry! Nature is all around us, even when we’re living or working in an urban setting. Space and the sky and the oceans and everything in between can be a source of inspiration!
Your artwork might be precise and representational or wild and abstract. If *you* consider it to be inspired by nature in some way, so do we.

Introducing the Issue 7 Guest Editor: Anne Butera
Anne Butera is a self-taught artist who finds inspiration in the beauty of her garden and the magic of nature. She works primarily in watercolor but also loves challenging herself to try new things. She strives to seek out and celebrate life’s little joys and daily graces.
Originally intimidated by sketchbooks, a collaboration with another artist helped Anne fall in love with the practice. Now she’s passionate about encouraging others to overcome their fears and embrace their creativity.
Anne writes the blog My Giant Strawberry; teaches online; and sells her art, designs and fabric on her website and elsewhere on the web. Her paintings have been exhibited across the country and her art and writing have been published in magazines and in the book Botanica.
