Gallery Submissions
The overall theme for Issue 6 is Handmade Books. You are free to interpret this idea in whatever way feels right to you.
Strawberry Moon Magazine is inclusive and actively seeks to work with ALL artists, regardless of color, identity, talent, age, or ability.
Themed Gallery Guidelines
If necessary, I will move submissions to different galleries if I feel they fit better somewhere else or if I don’t receive enough submissions for a particular gallery.
For the theme galleries, I would like to feature handmade books as well as the artwork in those books.
The Junky Journals – your scrappiest, chubbiest, wildest creations, stuffed with a variety of papers and artwork and bound in your favorite method.
The Fancy Creations – these are the books you’ve made using the best materials, the most complicated stitching, and the most care. These are the books that know what a book press is.
The Unusual Structures – different shapes, crazy sizes (from tiny to enormous), unique bindings, whatever makes your book different from the norm.
The Upcycled Books – these will probably overlap with the other categories, but this gallery will specifically focus on books that reuse other books. Whether it’s the cover or the pages (or both), share your handmade book that has its beginnings in another book.
You submission can either be:
- Photos of just your book (perhaps it’s newly made and doesn’t have artwork in it yet)
- Photos that focus on the book as well as a photo of ONE favorite spread from the book.
Please only submit ONE time per gallery. You may submit to EACH gallery, but only one per gallery, please.
The Atelier Guidelines
Have you created something really special lately that doesn’t fit in with the handmade book themes? Then this is the place for you. Please only make one submission to this gallery and limit your submission to no more than 3 photos. Make sure your pictures are brightly lit and free from distractions.
Notes
After the submission deadline, I will review all submissions and respond to all of them. If your work is going to be included, I’ll provide additional information closer to when the magazine is being finalized about how to preorder with your artist discount. I will also provide graphics you can use to announce your inclusion in the issue.
If you have any questions during the process, you are welcome to email me at hello@strawberrymoon.art.
Deadline
Gallery deadline: Friday, June 30, 2023.
Submission Form
Please use the AirTable form below to submit your artwork to the gallery. All submissions will receive a response no later than July 7, 2023. I’m expecting this issue will release mid to late August 2023.
