A magazine for art journalers

why Strawberry Moon?

Strawberries represent good luck, humility, kindness, fertility, modesty, goodwill, and happiness. They are juicy and sweet and remind us of the best parts of summer. The moon represents the rhythm of time, gentleness, sensitivity, compassion, and connection with others. The full moon in particular is a time to celebrate growth, note progress and reflect on how far you have come. If you swirl all of that together, you come up with the perfect summary of what I hope to accomplish with Strawberry Moon Magazine.

We are celebrating artists, reflecting on what art journaling is and where it is going. We try to do it with sensitivity, kindness, goodwill, and compassion. We are connecting readers with artists and each other. Hopefully we bring some good luck and happiness to everyone involved.

What is an art journal anyway?

Art journals are as different as the artists who create them! They are usually book-shaped, but they can be any size (big or small or in between) and they usually incorporate imagery of some kind. Paint, collage, photographs, drawings, written or typed words—anything (and more) goes!

(And book-shaped doesn’t necessarily mean squares or rectangles, either!)

Time to reintroduce the staff of Strawberry Moon M Time to reintroduce the staff of Strawberry Moon Magazine!

I'm Suzanne Earley, Owner and Publisher of Strawberry Moon Magazine. I do the jobs the cats don't want to do, which is pretty much everything.

Sally, Hobbes, and Sammy are Senior Interns. Sally and Hobbes are usually asleep on the job, often together. Sally adores Hobbes; he secretly adores her, too, but refuses to admit it. Sammy now lives with my son and his family and while he sleeps a bunch, too, he's often getting up to a lot of mischief.

Rounding out the staff are my Junior Interns, Maverick and Harper. Maverick will be 2 in September and is sweet and kind and smart and cuddly and hilarious. His sister Harper was born July 1 (her daddy and uncle's birthday!) and is absolutely perfect.

Our social media has been kind of quiet lately, but we hope to remedy that. Look out for posts about everything coming in the newest issue of the magazine -- it's open for preorder now!
