Welcome

A magazine for art journalers

why Strawberry Moon?

Strawberries represent good luck, humility, kindness, fertility, modesty, goodwill, and happiness. They are juicy and sweet and remind us of the best parts of summer. The moon represents the rhythm of time, gentleness, sensitivity, compassion, and connection with others. The full moon in particular is a time to celebrate growth, note progress and reflect on how far you have come. If you swirl all of that together, you come up with the perfect summary of what I hope to accomplish with Strawberry Moon Magazine.

We are celebrating artists, reflecting on what art journaling is and where it is going. We try to do it with sensitivity, kindness, goodwill, and compassion. We are connecting readers with artists and each other. Hopefully we bring some good luck and happiness to everyone involved.

What is an art journal anyway?

Art journals are as different as the artists who create them! They are usually book-shaped, but they can be any size (big or small or in between) and they usually incorporate imagery of some kind. Paint, collage, photographs, drawings, written or typed words—anything (and more) goes!

(And book-shaped doesn’t necessarily mean squares or rectangles, either!)

We are so lucky to have so many talented artists who have shared their work to grace the pages of the magazine. The portfolio of artists is a work in progress (aren’t we all?), but you can find more about all of our artists and authors.

Strawberry Moon Magazine’s newest intern made hi Strawberry Moon Magazine’s newest intern made his debut yesterday—he’s about a week and half earlier than expected, but I guess he’s already living up to his name, doing things on his own terms. This is Maverick and in addition to helping me, he’ll be interning out at the farm with his Grandpa Mark, too. He and his parents are doing great and of course, he is absolutely perfect. 💙💙💙
